Publishing Policy

The main factor Writers Closet uses to determine acceptance of a submission is whether the subject matter will appeal to a wide market. Wide appeal will usually generate sufficient sales to pay for Writers Closet's considerable investment in each publication and the high royalty rate we pay our authors. Before submitting a final manuscript, authors must provide a two-to-three paragraph summary of the work, along with the table of contents. Think of the summary as the liner notes found on book dust covers - this is what sells the book to consumers (and to publishers). If Writers Closet accepts the summary, the author will be asked to submit the entire manuscript for further review and final acceptance.

The specific Publishing Policies are as follows:

  1. Author(s) must be the sole author(s) and owner(s) of the work submitted.

  2. All submissions must meet the Manuscript Submission Requirements.

  3. All work published by Writers Closet must be registered with the US Copyright Office, or a non-US Copyright Office recognized by the United States. See the Writers Closet Copyright Policy for further details.   Please click here to view the Copyright Policy.

  4. All submitted work must be in the English language and use proper grammar and spelling to be published. Writers Closet may correct "minor" grammar and spelling errors to submitted manuscripts.

  5. The following types of work are not accepted:
    • Pornography.
    • Hate or Violence.
    • Cult or Occult.
    • Any illegal or immoral work.
    • Get Rich Quick or other scams.
    • Anti-US, or unpatriotic works.
    • Plagiarized work.
    • Work in the Public Domain.
    • Any work encumbered by liens, claims, interests or rights in others of any kind.
    • Any work that violates or infringes upon any personal or proprietary rights, including without limitation copyrights, trademark rights, trade secret rights, contract rights, privacy rights, or publicity rights of any other persons.
    • Any work that is defamatory or obscene; or that contains any recipes, formulae, instructions, or recommendations that are in violation of anyone's privacy; or that contains statements deemed injurious, libelous or slanderous to any reader, user, or third person; or that violate or infringe any federal, state, or local law, statute, or code.

  6. Writers Closet reserves the right to refuse to publish any submission, for any reason, and to be the sole judge of whether a submitted work is unacceptable pursuant to policy number 5 above.

  7. All works must be submitted electronically either via email or on a disk or CD and be free of Viruses. Submitted work must be in Rich Text Format (RTF), MS-Word 2000 or earlier, or HTML. All graphics must be submitted with the work.
